I’m a London-based 4-time award-winning freelance writer.
I regularly write across digital and print for a broad range of titles in the UK, the U.S. and the Middle East. These include Vice, i-D, Cosmopolitan, Refinery29UK, DAZED, Time Out London, Stylist, Grazia, Happiful, HUNGER, Huck, Noisey, AnOther, Dazed Beauty, Bustle, BALANCE, BBC Three, Eater, Munchies, Little White Lies, Another Man, The Book of Man, SLEEK, Middle East Eye, Vice Arabia and more.
My writing humanises under-represented communities in the UK and sheds light on Britain’s invisible voices. Examples of my writing include my award-winning feature for The Debrief [now Grazia] investigating female survivors of honour-based violence from Britain’s South Asian community. This was awarded ‘Best Feature’ at the End Violence Against Women Media Awards in November 2017.
Other examples include: my investigation of the UK’s first halal sex shop for Broadly, VICE’s female-focused channel, interviewing the founder of Hungama, the first LGBTQ+ club night of its kind that provides queer Asians with one of the only opportunities for their culture and sexuality to seamlessly co-exist for Time Out London to profiling the ‘Big Gay Iftar’, one of the few events where London’s LGBTQ+ Muslims break their fast with the mainstream Muslim community for Munchies, VICE’S food channel.
