I’ve written a chapter in the anthology “IT’S NOT ABOUT THE BURQA: Muslim Women on Faith, Feminism, Sexuality and Race”. My essay, “Eight Notifications”, is set in 2016 and explores the challenges I’ve faced as a Muslim journalist in the UK in the weeks following the Brexit referendum and my experiences of attending a conference held by a far-right political party. This was published by Picador Press in February 2019 and is available to order from Waterstones here as well as other leading bookshops/retailers.

“It’s Not About the Burqa: Muslim Women on Faith, Feminism, Sexuality and Race” has been featured in a number of leading titles, including Cosmopolitan UK, Refinery29UK, Dazed, Stylist, ELLE UK, AnOther Magazine, Guardian Weekend, Amaliah, Book Riot and more.

‘Eight Notifications’ was also selected by DAZED, Refinery29 and Media Diversified as well as book reviews, including this, this and this.

As of March 2019, ‘IT’S NOT ABOUT THE BURQA’ is a #1 best-seller on Amazon’s ‘Fiction Anthologies’.
